  1. Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in rolling stock to identify and perform necessary repairs.
  2. Assumes primary responsibility for warranty repairs on equipment sold or rented to external customers.
  3. Collects, reviews and approves Oahu driver inspection reports.
  4. Oversees and/or assists with maintenance and repairs of all company-owned electronic equipment, including but not limited to arrow boards, message boards, vehicle lighting, as well as other aftermarket safety and accessory items installed in/on company vehicles.
  5. Assists with adjustments and repairs to brakes, transmissions, ignition and lighting systems, cooling and heating systems, and other rolling stock as shop workload dictates.
  6. Performs structural repair and fabrication employing a variety of welding techniques; oversees body and fender repair, painting and glass replacement.
  7. Assists with emergency mechanical repairs in shop or in field and troubleshoots malfunctions needing immediate repair.
  8. Provides assistance and information to Jr. Mechanics regarding work such as testing and repairing.
  9. Inspects, replaces parts and makes adjustments to keep equipment in good working order.
  10. In collaboration with Fleet Supervisor, recommends and advocates for appropriate resources, tools and equipment to meet all department needs.
  11. Adheres to hazards and safety precautions of the mechanical trade; wears personal protective equipment as required.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
  13. Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety policies.
  14. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
  1. High School diploma; degree in auto or heavy equipment mechanics preferred.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience repairing/servicing heavy equipment, including gas/diesel engines.
  3. Minimum 3 years of experience performing structural repair and fabrication as well as general body/fender work.
  4. Minimum 3 years of experience repairing/servicing general commercial equipment.
  5. Minimum of one ASE certification.
  6. Welding experience preferred.
  7. Working proficiency with Word, Excel, and Email. Adaptable to in-house software.
  8. Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete tasks in a timely manner. Calculator 10 key.
  9. Uses basic math functions to perform daily tasks.
  10. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Valid Hawaii driver’s license and favorable traffic abstract.
  12. CDL, class B, preferred.
