JOB INFORMATION
POSITION TITLE: Senior Engineer

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  1. Develop excavation and grading plans for aggregate mining and re-naturalization activities.
  2. Develop three-dimensional models of aggregate reserves; utilize market demand and sales projections to analyze future depletion of aggregate reserves.
  3. Establish and lead project planning and design teams that include appropriate design professionals such as mechanical engineers, structural engineers, electrical engineers, architects, planners, environmental consultants, and permit expediters. Conduct quality and technical review of work products produced by design professionals and consultants.
  4. Procure the services of architects, engineers, and consultants using company procurement policies. Manage contracts and review invoices for payment.
  5. Oversee topographic surveys of company sites and projects using either in-house staff and resources, or licensed survey companies, as appropriate.
  6. Create and update topographic maps, plot plans, as-built drawings, and other maps of industrial facilities and construction sites.
  7. Provide graphics support for presentation slides, figures, and other maps.
  8. Evaluate software and hardware products for mapping and surveying; make purchase recommendations to senior management regarding technological capabilities and cost effectiveness of various products.
  9. Conduct routine inventories of product stockpiles using LIDAR-enabled drones, mobile GPS systems, and other tools as appropriate; assist management with inventory analysis.
  10. Configure GPS-enabled construction equipment, provide technical support to operations, and establish training procedures for operators and site/project management personnel.
  11. Responsible for ensuring that use of mapping equipment (such as drones) complies with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  12. Operate and maintain peripheral devices such as plotters, scanners, and printers.
  13. Effectively understand and use company file systems for graphic records, as-built drawings, and other related information.
  14. Communicate effectively with field personnel, managers, supervisors.
  15. Ability to proactively recognize company needs and develop appropriate tools.
  16. Ability to work cooperatively and develop effective working relationships to accomplish job responsibilities.
  17. Ability to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology.
  18. Ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Undergraduate degree in civil engineering.
  2. Professional Civil Engineer licensed in the State of Hawaii.
  3. Able to earn the Asphalt Institute’s Mix Design Technology Certification within the first year of employment.
  4. Experience using mapping software such as ArcGIS, TerraModel, AutoCAD
  5. Familiarity with aerial photographic stitching software, and photogrammetry software.
  6. Experience using mapping hardware such as GPS Total Station, GPS Rover, and drones.
  7. Must possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving abstract.
  8. Routine travel (primarily day trips) to facilities and jobsites on Oahu and neighbor islands.
  9. Must be able to wear and use all personal protective safety equipment as operating conditions dictate.
  10. Must be able to lift and carry mapping equipment while working outdoors in rough terrain and uncontrolled environments.
  11. Successfully complete all aspects of required training.
  12. Comply with company rules of general conduct, company policies and procedures.
  13. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  14. Valid Hawaii driver’s license and favorable traffic abstract.
