PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  1. Provides support for and actions to continue a positive Safety culture throughout the organization, by their demonstrated concern and actions for each employee’s safety.
  2. Assists in maintaining and ensuring compliance in documented policies, processes and procedures which enable all employees to reinforce best practices supporting a safety culture.
  3. Assists in documenting task specific activity hazard analyses for each major phase of work for assigned project management teams.
  4. Conducts and documents weekly and other needed safety meetings and new hire and jobsite orientations; proactively develops and delivers safety presentations.
  5. Conducts and documents jobsite/facility and corporate safety and health inspections; ensures unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner and escalate, if required.
  6. Assists in management of corporate Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, and Ergonomics Programs.
  7. Assists in conducting detailed investigations of work related accidents requiring more than first aid, vehicle accidents & property damage. Develop after action reviews to enable proactive accident prevention. Works with Claim Representatives and responds to wage rate, personnel information and any other requested information required due to the claim.
  8. May attend during regulatory agency compliance inspections and complaint/ accident investigations.
  9. Maintains safety and health related records, documentation (including training records).
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
  11. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Minimum: 4 Year Degree; preferably Safety and/or Risk Management Degree; will consider a 2 year safety degree;0-3 years of experience in managing vehicle, property damage, MSHA/OSHA reporting and workers compensation claims. Preferred: 2-5 years construction safety and health experience.
  2. Minimum: Ability to obtain Safety Trained Supervisor (STS). Preferred: Current Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
  3. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Lotus Notes; aptitude to learn in-house systems; typing skills to timely complete daily tasks.
  4. Ability to read and interpret legal documents, government regulations.
  5. Ability to produce organized, clear, grammatically correct written communications.
  6. Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.
  7. Must be available to work nights, weekends and travel to neighbor islands as needed.
  8. Excellent interpersonal / organizational / documentation skills.
  9. Must be at least 21 years of age.
