  1. Provides support for and actions to continue a positive Safety culture throughout the organization, by their demonstrated concern and actions for each employee’s safety.
  2. Performs site specific safety and health programs for assigned projects and personnel. Ensures safety awareness is understood prior to the commencement of work activities.
  3. Assists and performs in developing task specific activity hazard analyses for each major phase of work for assigned project management teams. Document compliance and safety awareness.
  4. Conducts and documents weekly and other needed safety meetings and new hire and jobsite orientations; proactively develops and delivers safety presentations.
  5. Conducts and documents jobsite/facility and corporate safety and health inspections; ensures unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner and escalate, if required.
  6. Develops lesson plans and conducts and/or coordinates formal and informal safety and health related training; ensures that all safety training requirements are met.
  7. Assists in management of all corporate safety, health and environmental programs including but not limited to; Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Storm Water, Spill Prevention, HAZWOPER, and Ergonomics Programs.
  8. Conduct detailed investigations of work-related accidents requiring more than first aid, vehicle accidents & property damage, vehicle & property damage & workers’ compensation claims. Develop after action reviews to enable proactive accident prevention. Working with Claim Representatives and responding to wage rate, personnel information and any other requested information required due to the claim.
  9. Represents the Company during regulatory agency compliance inspections and complaint/ accident investigations and assists with contest against alleged violations.
  10. Maintains professional certifications and remains current with all safety and health regulations.
  11. Assists with corporate Substance Abuse testing program.
  12. Maintains safety and health related records, documentation (including training records).
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
  14. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
  1. Minimum: 8-15 years construction safety and health experience.
  2. 2 years of formal education, preferred BS in Safety, Environmental, Risk Management or related degrees.
  3. Minimum: Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), OSHA 30 hour,Hazwoper 40 HR, and First Aid Train/Trainer
    Preferred: Hazwoper Trainer, OSHA 501 Instructor,Competent Person Fall Arrest, Confined Space, Forklift/Equipment Instructor, ASP, CSP
  4. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Lotus Notes; aptitude to learn in-house systems; typing skills to timely complete daily tasks.
  5. Ability to read and interpret legal documents, government regulations.
  6. Ability to produce organized, clear, grammatically correct written communications.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.
  8. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and travel to neighbor islands as needed.
  9. Excellent interpersonal / organizational / documentation skills.
  10. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  11. Valid Hawaii driver’s license and favorable traffic abstract.
