PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  1. Coordinate and detail incident case management at all phases; from initial flash report to close-out final report.
  2. Design and implement an Industrial Health program compliant with all State, Local, and Federal agencies.
  3. Accountable to develop, implement, manage, and efficiently document HSE programs, policies, procedures. Incorporate and train workforce of best practices as determined.
  4. Ensure compliance with all HSE regulations and standards as promulgated by all local, state and federal agencies through development and implementation of on-site inspection and monitoring programs/processes. Represent organization at safety-related hearings and investigations as requested.
  5. Establishes and implement HSE department functional goals, objectives, programs and operating procedures. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness. Be proactive in necessary for improvement.
  6. Coordinates the activities of the Site Safety Committee and serve as the technical resource expert and ‘champion'.
  7. Consults, advises and works collaboratively with site leadership regarding EHS issues, problems, programs, processes and systems.
  8. Keeps current on changing environmental, health (industrial hygiene) and safety laws and regulations (federal, state, local) and advises leadership on their impact (or potential) to the business operations.
  9. Promotes effective communication programs to enhance and encourage member awareness of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  10. Establish and maintain budget for health, safety and environmental activities with support from facilities, operations and commercial business functions
  11. Develop and maintain effective relations with government agencies and our communities.
  12. In collaboration with Environmental Director, manage remediation activities, including conducting negotiations with the regulatory agencies, hiring and directing 3rd party consulting firms (engineering, environmental), and any soil and/or groundwater. Provide technical oversight and maintaining appropriate financial records and audit action items.
  13. Participates in the work of building a global EMS/SMS system by working collaboratively with the Department Head.
  14. Manage Hazard assessment and analysis for project execution plans. Conduct and mentor Field level risk assessment. Coach and advise in the development of JHA< SOP
  15. Develop and oversee the thorough understanding and delivery of daily/weekly/monthly/annual safety and advisory communication meetings.
  16. Develop and nurture a communication plan that allows each employee to be informed of safety and environmental events such as; inspection findings, hazards observed, corrective actions, lessons learned, etc.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.
  18. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Minimum: 10 years construction environmental, health and safety experience.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Safety/Construction Management/Business.
  3. Minimum: Must possess or be able to attain the OSHA 30, Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) and ASP/CSP certifications.
  4. Certified in OSHA 500 and 501, or ability to attain.
  5. Must have experience working with industrial claims processes.
  6. Proficient in using HCSS Safety, MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Lotus Notes; aptitude to learn in-house systems; typing skills to timely complete daily tasks.
  7. Ability to read and interpret legal documents, government regulations.
  8. Ability to produce organized, clear, grammatically correct written communications.
  9. Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.
  10. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and travel to neighbor islands as needed.
  11. Excellent interpersonal / organizational / documentation skills.
  12. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  13. Valid Hawaii driver’s license and favorable traffic abstract.
