POSITION TITLE: Roller Operator, over 5 tons (1B) - 2
REPORTS TO: Island Manager

  1. Operates roller safely on all types of terrain, observing traffic lights, patterns and congestion.
  2. Rolls asphalt to meet finish surface specifications, including compaction, surface smoothness and removal of lines/roller marks.
  3. Adjusts vibration and amplitude on vibratory roller according to different operating conditions or mixes.
  4. Maintains roller by cleaning spray bars and filling tank with water; checks oil and water levels.
  5. Checks vehicle(s) prior to driving and completes required CDL checklists.
  6. Follows DOT, OSHA and Company safety regulations and policies.
  1. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  2. 5 years paving experience; knowledge of asphalt mix designs; familiarity with asphalt temperature, movement and various finished surfaces.
  3. Ability to rake, operate the screed and see the crown and swales in the pavement.
  4. Ability to read, write and complete equipment reports.
  5. CDL Type A and favorable traffic abstract.
  6. Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, nights, holidays, weekends as required by the job.
  7. Ability to work as a team member.
