PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  1. Oversees the Company’s cash flows and cash management activities on a daily basis, including the determination of any borrowing needs.
  2. Oversees and manages the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), general ledger and taxes.
  3. Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  4. Further develop the accounts receivable cycle, design, maintenance and management of the customer accounts, billings and collection processes acrossall business units.
  5. Accountable for the results of the A/R team including the collection of accounts receivable on a timely basis. Provides oversight of collections processes to ensure they follow credit laws, SOX compliance, internal control and industry best practice.
  6. Further develop the accounts payable cycle, design, maintenance and management of vendor accounts, invoice processing and payment issuance across all business units.
  7. Responsible for ensuring that the A/P department is making timely customer payments in line with applicable laws, SOX and internal controls, contractual obligations and company cash flow requirements.
  8. Perform month-end and quarter-end close procedures.
  9. Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
  10. Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
  11. Serves as a part of the Finance & Accounting leadership team ensuring that departments work seamlessly together to achieve the divisions outcomes.
  12. Participates in and assists with various internal and external audits. Leads remediation efforts within defined areas and ensure compliance to updates as needed to policy, procedures or process.
  13. Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety policies.
  14. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. College Degree in Business Administration. Degree in Accounting Preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience inacceptable
  2. 5 years relevant experience in accounting, or closely related field
  3. 2 years experience managing people
  4. Previous experience in Construction or Asphalt business, preferred.
  5. Working Knowledge of Word, Excel, Email; aptitude to learn in-house systems
  6. Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete daily tasks in a timely manner
  7. Excellent analytical skills.
  8. Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively with all departments, management levels within the company and external stakeholders.
  10. Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate accounting and financial information in a concise and easy to understand manner.
  11. Independent problem solver with ability to proactively develop and successfully lead initiatives.
  12. Must demonstrate sound judgment and integrity beyond reproach in all situations.
