  1. Responsible for company-wide human resources programs including managing the staff responsible for staffing (recruitment, placement, and retention), compensation, benefits, labor/employee relations (union contract administration), compliance (employment law and regulations), training (development of educational, certification goals, employee development plans), and corporate policy.
  2. Responsible for labor relations functions including interpretation of the union contracts, advising, discipline, grievance/ arbitration hearings, investigation, documentation and reporting. Leads the company’s position in the negotiation process for collective bargaining agreements and also advises/collaborates with the President, COO and other managers, in drafting up a new or revised contract language (such as work rules, pay and fringe rates and policy changes).
  3. Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state employment law requirements; conduct investigations; maintain records; and represent the company at hearings. Responsible for overseeing and participating in employee relations functions including advising, counseling, discipline, complaint investigation, documentation and reporting.
  4. Advise the organization on strategies to further align organizational practices to meet the strategic and operating goals of the business units. These issues include: change management; leadership management and teamwork; conflict resolution; teamwork; employee engagement, talent management and development; process improvement; and employee feedback loops.
  5. Establishes and maintains Employee Handbook and related policies or programs.
  6. Provides direction and assistance for employee relations issues related to work injuries, employee leaves, ADA accommodations and other high-level leave issues.
  7. Responsible for the company wide random DOT/Non-DOT drug testing according to our Substance Abuse Policy.
  8. Responsible for managing, coaching and developing the HR team. Sets departmental goals in alignment with corporate priorities and establishes performance expectations
  9. Actively participates in senior management team.
  10. Assigned as corporate fiduciary, trustee and plan administrator of the 401(k)Retirement Savings Plan.
  11. Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety practices.
  12. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related major; plus 10+ years in Human Resources and 3+ years supervising and leading teams. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  2. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams & HRIS systems. Aptitude to learn in-house systems; keyboarding skills sufficient to complete daily tasks in a timely manner. 10 key helpful.
  3. Basic mathematical calculations required.
  4. Ability to read and interpret legal documents, government regulations required.
  5. Organized, clear, grammatically correct written communications skills required.
  6. Valid Hawaii driver’s license and favorable traffic abstract.
